Fire-resistant chipboards are tested in accordance with NEN 6065 (fire propagation) and NEN 6066 (smoke production in case of fire) and meet the Dutch Class 1 standard.
The fire speed can be determined using the methods below.

Standard V20/E1 melamine-faced chipboards = thickness in mm * 1.5 = number of minutes that the board is fire-resistant

Fire-resistant melamine-faced chipboards = thickness in mm * 2.0 = number of minutes that the board is fire-resistant

The main difference between standard boards and fire-resistant boards is that standard boards catch fire and fire-resistant boards char. Fire-resistant boards are physically distinguished by their red colour. The density of fire-resistant boards lies between 720 and 860 kg/m3. They are heavier than standard boards
